Paphiopedilum daoense AVERYANOV & GRUSS
Section: Paphiopedilum
Synonym: Paph. gratrixianum var. daoense
In Vinh Phuc province, near the city of Tam Dao in northern Vietnam, plants resembling Paph. gratrixianum have been found. However, the flag is almost white with dark spots. These plants grow at altitudes of 900 to 1200 meters and are said to be somewhat smaller than Paph. gratrixianum. Therefore, in 2017, these plants were described as Paph. daoense.
Supposedly, plants of this species have also been found in the southern province of Yunnan (China) (see location photos at the end of the page) – however, this location has not been confirmed.
