A light variant of Paphiopedilum x dalatense?

In a smaller stock of the natural hybrid Paphiopedilum x dalatense, a light color variant has appeared.

The origin of these plants can no longer be determined after more than 10 years, as is so often the case. The plants are said to have been bought from a nursery in northern Vietnam.

A comparison with a typical Paph. x dalatense shows clear color deviations in the flower and a different staminodium.

on the left the light color variant - on the right the typical coloring of Paph. dalatense                                                                                                     the leaves of both plants look very similar

This light color variant is said to have appeared occasionally in Vietnamese nurseries. Experts are currently investigating whether these "light" blossoms are within the normal distribution range of this natural hybrid, or whether they are something new.

Let's wait for the result.
