Paphiopedilum herrmannii   FUCHS & REISINGER

Section: Paphiopedilum

Paph. herrmannii is considered by some taxonomists as a natural hybrid between Paph. helenae and Paph. esquirolei viewed. These plants are said to grow in the border area of Vietnam and China.

According to Rolf Herrmann (cf. Die Orchidee 1/2012 magazine), this species only grows in the province of Hoa Binh and thus 150 km from the published locality.
According to information provided by the collectors, no other Paphiopedilum grows within a radius of 100 km - thus the thesis, Paph. herrmannii a natural hybrid is almost impossible.

The plants grow at altitudes of 600 - 1000 m and should therefore be cultivated in temperate areas.

here as a single plant - there are similarities with Paph. erythroanthum, which was described in issue 4 2019 of the Orchideenjournal
