Paphiopedilum chamberlainianum   SANDER

Section: Cochlopetalum

Synonym: Paph. chamberlainianum var. latifolium; Paph. victoria-regina

This species is found on the island of Sumatra (Indonesia) near the town of Bukitingi and grows at altitudes around 800 - 1200 m.

In the mid-1980s, it was believed that this plant was the "real" Paph. chamberlainianum - however, there were deviations from the original drawing.

These plants were recognized as a variety and given the name Paph. chamberlainianum var. latifolium.

Philipp Cripp is of the opinion that the correct designation Paph. victoria regina(e) be.
